Posted Dec 7th, 2016
Cheese balls are classic holiday appetizers that everyone loves! This recipe is deliciously flavorful thanks to the combination of blue cheese, pecans, cranberries and honey. Happy Holidays!
2 (8oz) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (4oz) package Superior Selections Blue Cheese
2 tablespoons Superior Selections Honey
¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
½ tsp salt
2/3 cup Superior Selections Dried Cranberries
1 (2 oz) package of pecan pieces (about ½ cup)
2 tsp butter
½ cup plain bread crumbs
¼ cup chives
Your favorite Superior Selections crackers
In a medium bowl, soften cream cheese. Add in blue cheese, honey, cayenne and salt. Beat ingredients on low speed until mixed and fluffy (about two minutes). Fold in cranberries and pecans until well combined. Cover and cool in refrigerator for a minimum of two hours.
Once cheese mixture is firm and ready to shape into a ball, you’re ready to create the bread crumb coating. Over medium heat, melt butter in a skillet. Then stir in bread crumbs and cook for two minutes. Place finished bread crumbs in a separate medium bowl. Stir in chives. Let bread crumbs cool for a few minutes while you shape cheese mixture into a large ball. Then roll in bread crumbs. Once cheese ball is completely covered, serve with crackers and enjoy!
