Muesli Scones

These citrus scones are moist, delicious and easy to make. Top with jam, a glaze or eat plain – either way these baked good makes a perfect addition to any brunch or tea time.

Muesli Scones

1 ¼ cup flour
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
2 tbsp orange zest
1/3 cup butter
3 cups Superior Selections Muesli Cereal, crushed
2 tbsp orange juice
1/3 cup applesauce
1 large egg

In a medium bowl, stir together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and orange zest.

Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in crushed cereal.

Beat orange juice, applesauce and egg together. Add to cereal mixture.

With floured hands and on waxed paper or lightly floured surface, pat dough into a 6-inch circle (mixture will be sticky). Cut into 8 wedges. Place wedges on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake in a 400 degree preheated oven for 15 minutes.
